2024 NATIONAL SILVER FOX RABBIT CLUB ELECTIONS

Hi NSFRC members,

The 2024 NSFRC Election for three board members is underway. There are six qualified people running from all over the country. Yahooo!!! Our members are what make us great.

Ballots were mailed out from Monterey, California on Sunday July 14, 2024. This means that they should be arriving to your mailbox this week. Included in your voting packet are each of the candidates’ statements about running for office, a stamped envelope, and mustard-colored ballot (s). (The number of ballots enclosed should equal the number of voting aged members in your household. Meaning anyone over the age of fourteen.) Please, read the statements, select up to three candidates of your choice on the ballot, put the ballot in the provided envelope, and mail it. Canadian members: I sent each of you some money, sorry it is US currency, to purchase your own postage. I can’t find the return postage I purchased last year while visiting the Canadian Rockies. All ballots must be mailed back to me by August 31, 2024. (Postmarked 8/31/24)

This year the election materials mailed only apply to the board of directors because the office of President and Secretary went unopposed. I am including their petitions so that you are kept informed about our leadership.

Lastly, if there are any discrepancies with your ballot(s) or you believe you were not sent the correct number of ballots please contact me asap. There seems to be some youth members who did not get ballots because there was no way to confirm ages without birthday information submitted on their applications. If you or your youth are over 14 and you did not get a ballot, PLEASE contact me soon. We need to update our files as we go forward with future elections.

The next time I will be sending out a membership-wide message, it will be the results of the board of directors’ election and an evaluation of NSFRC as a whole. As always, If you believe that there is any incorrect information on file or your email or address has changed, please contact me and I will forward the corrected information onto the people who maintain the master list.

Sincerely,
Suzel Bozada-Deas

Hannah Silar-Yost Ramirez (formerly Hannah Yost)

has been re-elected as President. Her petition was submitted May 5, 2024

Hello NSFRC members. If you don’t know me by now, my name is Hannah Yost and I am running for my third term as your NSFRC president. I am truly grateful for the last two terms that I have been able to serve with you all. We are enjoying steadily increasing membership, creation of new regional specialty clubs, increased engagement and participation, and more silver fox sanctions and specialty shows than ever! I am grateful to be able to work with an excellent group of officers, BOD members, and committee chairs to ensure the club runs smoothly and efficiently. We are implementing new and exciting ideas to continue to push the club in a forward direction. We are also working with the Livestock Conservancy (via Vernon Brown - Director) to get the SF off of the rare breed list. The club and breed have come leaps and bounds in the past 4 years with no end in sight. I hope to continue to be able to lead this club into the future. Please consider voting for me for a third term, one I hope to make my most successful yet!

Thank you,
Hannah

Risa Bayliff

has been elected for the position of Secretary. Her petition was also submitted May 5, 2024

My name is Risa Bayliff, and I’m submitting my petition to be considered for the next secretary of the National Silver Fox Rabbit Club. My daughter began showing rabbits in 4H and asked to go to some ARBA shows. It wasn’t long until I wanted a breed of my own to focus on. I love history and learning about various heritages, so the idea of a dual-purpose heritage breed struck a chord. As I was researching, I discovered the silver fox breed and knew that I had found my breed. I enjoy sharing this breed and helping mentor new members, especially youth. They are the future of our breed!

I grew up in a farming family in Kensington KS, and found a love for nurturing life, whether it was plant or animal. With it’s wide open spaces, Kansas can provide some dramatic sunrises and sunsets. Last year my husband and I returned to my hometown to begin transitioning the family from one generation to the next.

I have dedicated the past 5 years to producing show-quality silver fox rabbits and have been an active participant in ARBA shows across a five-state region as well as Convention and Nationals. While I may be newer to the silver fox community, I’m no stranger to volunteering and holding leadership roles. While my children were growing, I was active as a mentor and leader in our 4H club, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. I have also held leadership positions in my work as mentors for new employees, as a service excellence advisor, team leader, supervisor and manager. In my personal life, I have held active leadership roles in my church as a board member, children’s education and leading and encouraging women to grow their faith.

I can’t put a price on the value of the friendships that I’ve made over these few years with people in the rabbit community. I enjoy connecting with others and look forward to having the opportunity to serve our club. Thank-you for your time and consideration.

Risa Bayliff
